Oral sedation

Oral sedation involves taking a prescribed medication before your appointment to help you feel more relaxed and less tense. While you won’t be asleep, you may feel drowsy, calm, and detached from the stress of the visit.

This option is helpful for patients who experience stronger dental anxiety, have trouble sitting comfortably for longer appointments, or prefer a deeper level of relaxation than nitrous oxide alone can provide.

Why oral sedation matter

Some patients need more support than nitrous oxide can offer. Oral sedation provides a deeper calming effect, helping you move through treatment with greater ease.

What happens during oral sedation

We review your medical history, choose the right medication, and explain when to take it before your visit. You’ll need someone to accompany you to and from the appointment, as the effects last longer than nitrous oxide.
