Oral pathology

Oral pathology focuses on identifying changes in the soft tissues of your mouth—such as unusual spots, sores, lumps, discolouration, or areas that don’t seem to heal. These changes are often harmless, but they should always be checked to be sure. A careful evaluation helps us understand what’s going on and whether monitoring, imaging, or a referral is needed.

Our goal is to provide clarity without causing alarm. We take time to explain what we see, discuss possible causes, and outline the next steps in a way that feels manageable and supportive.

What oral pathology helps identify

• Persistent sores or ulcers
• Colour changes in mouth tissues
• Lumps, bumps, or new growths
• Areas that bleed or don’t heal normally

Why oral pathology matter

Changes inside the mouth can happen for many reasons—irritation, infection, trauma, or something requiring closer attention. An early check gives you reassurance and helps prevent delays in care if something needs follow-up.
